Caroline's Halloween Activities

Caroline's class at school had Spooky Science Day. They did lots of activities with dry ice. I went to help out and it was WAY cool! Her teacher is so awesome.

Adding dry ice

Making "spooky smoke"

Adding soap

Making "foam" bubbles

This was the coolest part of the experiment.

She used a soap-soaked rag across the lip of the cylinder to make a super bubble.

POOF!

Caroline's class also made Oobleck and a Mr. Candy Corn craft. All in all, she had quite a festive day!

Sam's Class Halloween Party

Today, Sam's class had their Halloween party. The festivities started off with a costume parade/trick or treat in the hallway, then his party where they decorated a cookie and ate way too much junk. Tonight should be fun. As usual, I was there to take photos of the events.

Waiting in line to Trick or Treat (psst! He's the Fireman!)

Decorating his cookie
Eating the aforementioned cookie

Thank goodness Halloween is over tomorrow night at 8 p.m. We've been "celebrating" for over a week now!

Until next time........

Pumpkin Carving Night at the Babins

We carved our pumpkin tonight. The kids were so happy! I had gotten one of those carving templates and they chose the bat. (Yay! Most people know how much bats interest me. One day, I'll get to see those bats fly out of the Congress Avenue bridge in Austin. One day....)
Here are some photos from tonight's activity.

Thank you, Nee Nee and Poppa!

We let the kids open their box from Nee Nee and Poppa today. They've been staring at it for a week and just couldn't stand it any longer. They LOVED everything in it. Thank you!
Here are some pics of the opening:

I found this shirt for Sam yesterday. He loves it and couldn't wait until next week to show it off.

Wild Dogs Maul Red Team

Caroline's team won again today with a score of 10-2. The Red Team (not sure they had a real name) was short a few players so some of Caroline's team went to their side. Their 2 goals came off kids from our team :) Caroline played the entire game so she was a bit gassed at the end!

This has been a busy week at our house. Monday, we hosted a Halloween Craft Playdate with friends. It was a lot of fun for the kids and Mommies! Wednesday, Sam and I went to a Halloween Party at a playgroup friend's house. Thursday, Sam and I helped in Caroline's classroom with a pumpkin experiment. The kids had to bring in a pumpkin to school and measure the height and circumference (which Caroline can tell you what that is!) and then weigh it. They compared pumpkins at the end. She loves school so much and her teacher makes it so much more fun. That afternoon, we had friends over to take some Fall pictures in our backyard.
Today, we had a soccer game and then this afternoon we are going to a Halloween Birthday party. The kids get to dress up so they are excited. This next week looks to be busy, too, with Halloween. Lots more pictures to come.
Here are a few from this week:

Craft Playdate - decorating a cupcake

Halloween Party - waiting for Trick or Treats from friends

Fall Pictures in the backyard - a little Halloween costume preview

Gameday pics:

And a bonus pic of Sam!

Please continue to say prayers for Hannah. She got her chest tube removed this week but won't be home for Halloween. We sure do miss her and want her to be all better soon. Also, keep our friend, Misty, in your thoughts. Her grandmother passed away yesterday.
Until next time.....................

Wild Dogs 5 - Longhorns 0

Caroline's soccer team was once again victorious this week. The weather was nice and cool, 85 degrees at 10am! I snapped a few pictures of our little Spectator Sam. He gets so rev'd up for C's games and cheers for her. It's cute.

After the game, we went to Clear Lake Methodist for their Pumpkin Fall Festival. This is such a neat thing they do every year. The entire front "lawn" is filled with pumpkins for 2 weeks in October. The one day festival has free lemonade, snowcones, moonwalks, train rides, a petting zoo, and face painting. The kids LOVE the train ride, not so much the line for said train ride! Fun was had by all. Here are a few pictures from the festival:

Another one bites the dust......

When we picked Caroline up at school today, she had an extra space in her mouth and a tooth necklace around her neck. Yep....another tooth fell out. We seem to have a trend now of Tooth Fairy Friday! Tonight, she'll compose another letter to the Tooth Fairy and will await the treasure that she'll leave for Caroline tonight.

Pictures of the Caroline's new toothy grin:
And these two pictures, just because she is cute!

First Grade School Picture 2007

Will it FLOAT or SINK?

Caroline's class is studying buoyancy in Science. On Friday, she got assigned a project to work on over the weekend and turn in on Wednesday. So, we bought the supplies at Lakeshore on Saturday. (Sheri - that's the cool school supply store that we used to get catalogs for at STM- you should come visit me and I'll take you there!) We made the boat Monday night out of Model Magic and then let it dry overnight. Tuesday afternoon, we were set to paint it. I went into the craft room to get the paint, assuming she wanted pink, right? Well, I was WAY wrong on that one. I bring the pink paint to the table and my darling little Louisiana princess says, "Mommie, I wanted to make an LSU boat!" We've raised this kid right! I didn't have any LSU purple paint so off she went to soccer practice while Sam and I went to Hobby Lobby to get some paint. She got home from practice and we painted her LSU boat. I love this kid :) She painted the outside and inside of the boat. She wanted purple "polky" dots so she did those herself. Daddy and I helped her with the "sail" part of the boat.

Here's a picture of Caroline and her boat:

And the word is..............................................IT FLOATS!
She was so excited! She did explain to me that not only did it float but that it was "buoyant!" She's just amazing us more and more every day!

On a side note - Sam continues to be successful with the potty training. We take it day by day, but he is still earning stickers, suckers, and cars. WOO HOO!
And for the big news: HE WILLINGLY TOOK A BITE OF A HOT DOG LAST NIGHT! He didn't swallow it but he asked Jason for a bite. We were so happy for him. This is progress in the right direction for Sam.

Until next time...............................

Soccer Game #3 - Blue Team Vs. Team Brazil

Caroline had her third soccer game today. It was close to 95 degrees with humidity of 90%. It was HOT and sticky out there. The team they played was MUCH better organized, MUCH better coached, MUCH more athletic. I think they may have been the farm team for Team Brazil. C's team lost 1-7. She didn't have a clue that she lost and still had a great time. We actually see a lot of improvement in her as the season wears on. She touched the ball today with her feet twice and kicked it. She's starting to catch on!

A few pictures of Caroline in action -

A few other things:

* The Tooth Fairy came last night. Caroline received a letter and a gold dollar coin along with some fairy dust. She came into our room extra early to share that she had gotten "GOLD!" in her pillow.

* Hannah continues to improve. She was extubated today and things are looking up. Nici and Max are able to hold their baby girl now. Hang in there, Hannah! We are rooting for you here!

Until next time............

And it's outta here!

Caroline lost her first baby tooth this afternoon. I knew it was coming out any day now so I finished making her a tooth fairy pillow last night! So tonight, we'll have a visit from the tooth fairy. She says she wants 5 pennies. I think she'll get more than that!

Here's some new pictures of the toothless wonder girl:

Until next time....

Good Hannah Update

She is off ECMO! Next step is to get off of the ventilator. However, that will be a few days. Baby steps, but steps none-the-less! Please keep the prayers coming for Hannah. She's so brave. To be so little, to have taught so much. We love you very much Nici, Max, and Hannah!
