20 weeks - We are halfway there!!!

Okay...slow news week. The kids are in BR getting in some quality grandparent time. They've been with Nee Nee and Poppa since Sunday and will be heading to Nana's tomorrow. We'll get them back on Saturday. No little subjects to take pics of so you get baby updates this time.

Today, we hit the 20 week mark. That's the halfway point! YAY! Here's what one of the newsletters I get weekly says about 20 weeks:

20 weeks gestation

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.) He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system.

So it looks like things are chugging right along with Babin 3.0.

Until next time......

Dr. Appt. on Friday

I had my routine monthly dr. appointment on Friday. Heartbeat was a strong 150 bpm. Weight and BP was fine. We talked about how I was feeling, what to expect in the next month, and then I was on my way. Nothing too exciting, just like we like it! My next appt. is 08-08-08, a day after our NINTH wedding anniversary :) We'll do the GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) in 8 weeks. Fun!

Until next time......

Caroline's Birthday and Family Party

The morning of Caroline's birthday, we woke her up and sang to her, just as we've done the past 7 years. I can't believe she's 7!! She got a Nintendo DS from us so we took her to Toys R Us to pick out a game. While there, she got a crown and a balloon. She also got "recognized" over the PA that it was her birthday and every employee that saw her in the store told her Happy Birthday. It was too cool! She felt SO special.

Since we were "home" (in BR) for Caroline's actual birthday, we had a party with family at Aunt K.K. and Uncle Aaron's house. Nana, Grandpa, Julie, Nee Nee, Poppa, Nici, Max, and Hannah all came to see her celebrate her 7th birthday. It was so good to see everyone again, all together. Uncle Aaron BBQ'd burgers and hot dogs, K.K. made an amazing spinach and crawfish dip, and Nici made a birthday cake for the occasion. She got lots of great gifts and a fun time was had by all.

Happy Birthday, dear Caroline!

Hannah is the daughter of some of our bestest friends (and the kids' godparents). It seems that every year, at Caroline's party, they seem to like saying "goodbye" with a kiss and hug. Here's a photo compilation of Sam and Hannah....

Happy 4th of July!!

We celebrated our 4th with a BBQ at Nee Nee and Poppa's house followed by a fireworks "show" put on by Poppa and Daddy. The most fun was playing with the "poppers" in the driveway. We had a great time!

Build-A-Bear for Baby

Last week, upon confirmation that Babin III is a boy, we took the kids to Build-A-Bear to make an animal for the baby. It's our tradition that the stuffed animal is brought to the hospital and given to the baby upon birth. Jason and I did it for Caroline (Russell) and Caroline made one for Sam (Harry).

Making a wish and putting the satin heart inside the stuffed animal

Stuffing the bear
Giving the bear a "bath"
Naming the bear and getting his birth certificate

Caroline's Birthday Party

This past weekend, Caroline had her birthday party at a bouncing place - Fun Max Jump-In. She and a friend, Alyssa, have birthdays within days of each other and had their party together. It was a lot of fun. Caroline and even Sam had a GREAT time!

Happy Birthday, Caroline & Alyssa!
Until next time....
