Trip to Monroe, LA

A few weeks ago, we took a road trip to visit my Aunt Carol Ann and Uncle Glynn in Monroe. These are the relatives we stayed with during Ike. The kids enjoyed going to their house and playing in their yard. We wanted to visit with them and the cousins we don't see very often. We got together on Friday night for dinner at Melvyn's and then on Sunday, we took some family pics. It was a lot of fun to have everyone together. It doesn't happen often!

Update on Sam

Sam had a sleep-deprived EEG on August 17th due to the seizure he had on July 27. This EEG showed very abnormal activity and we were sent to see a pediatric neurologist. We saw the ped. neuro on September 16. He showed us the EEG report where it showed that Sam is having constant silent seizure activity all the time. They are so small that we don't even know he is having them. The doctor put Sam on a daily antiseizure medicine to help control these seizures. He will be on this medicine for at least the next 2 years, as long as he stays seizure-free. He ordered an MRI to see if there was any underlying reason for the seizures. Sam had an MRI on Friday, October 2. We got the results today. The MRI showed nothing serious. He does have a small cyst on the left side of his brain. The dr. tells us that this is a harmless cyst that we will continue to watch by repeating the MRI in a year. We have another appointment with the neuro next Friday to check on Sam's medicine. So far, we've not seen any side effects of the medicine. Please continue to keep Sam in your prayers and that we never have to experience another seizure ever again!

Until next time...
