The Saga of the Saints Flag

One afternoon, about a month ago, I came home to find my Saints garden flag missing. I scoured my yard, looked all in the bushes, EVERYWHERE. I pretty much came to the conclusion that someone had stolen my flag. The stand it is on, it would be really hard to fly off the stand. I waited a few days and then ordered a new one. I expressed this entire saga to my friend, Lisa. See, Lisa and I are Louisiana peeps. We follow our teams together and talk about "home" a lot. I called her first to tell her about my flag. She was as mad as I was. About a week after my flag disappeared, I found it! It was in my mailbox with a typewritten note: "Sorry for the inconvenience." I immediately called her and told her in all my excitement. Please note that Lisa had no part in the disappearance of my flag. I truly believe my flag was taken by possibly a kid in our neighborhood and some Mama made them return it. That part is still a mystery.
Fast forward a few days later - I get an email from Lisa and I's mutual friend, E. She tells me she is going to "take" Lisa's flag as a practical joke. And so Lisa's saga begins....she first accuses me of taking it. Then our other mutual friend, Rebecca. We didn't lie. We didn't have her flag! E let the joke go on for 5-6 days. It was HILARIOUS! One day, I took a pic of my flag (exactly like mine) and sent Lisa a text with the picture caption of "I'm okay. They are taking good care of me." from Jason's work phone, with a number Lisa wouldn't recognize.
Last Saturday, I got a text with a picture from Lisa:

Her flag had been returned. But it had been tortured and E had taken pics of the various forms of torture:

It's hard to see in the picture but the flag was posed as being used as toilet paper, flushed in the toilet, put in the fire place, run over by the car, burned by a lighter, cut with garden shears, used to pick up doggy doo, and bleach poured on it. Rest assured her flag didn't really have these things to it. It was all in good fun.
E - This was shear genius!
Lisa - You better come up with a revenge. Just don't do it to me. I was just the accomplice ;)

Sam's Surgery

Sam's surgery went quite well. He's recovering nicely. The pain comes and goes and we've managed to keep it under control with the pain meds. He's such a brave boy.
Pre-OpPost-Op - Mad props to Grandpa and Grandma Julie for the DS!
Sleeping soundly in Post-Op

Getting a ride in the wheelchair to go home!

Sam's Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy is tomorrow

Sam is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. Will update once we are home.

Loving Father,
We entrust Samuel to your care this day; guide with wisdom and skill the minds and hands of the medical people who minister in your Name, and grant that every cause of illness be removed, he may be restored to soundness of health and learn to live in more perfect harmony with you and with those around him. Through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Sam and the Big Chicken

Sam, for some reason, is obsessed with chickens. Lots of songs he sings have chicken inserted it. He likes looking for chickens (roosters, etc.) when we are out. He's Sam. Enough said.

On our little road excursion this weekend, we saw this HUGE rooster outside of a ranch. We pulled off on the side of the road and let Sam take some pictures with the big chicken.
Gotta love that boy :)

Wildflowers and Ice Cream 2010

We went to Brenham this weekend to see the wildflowers. We had heard that they are so beautiful this time of the year, so we set off in search of these flowers. It's funny that we drove 2 hours to take pictures in "pretty weeds," but we had fun! We also went to the Blue Bell Creamery. They don't do tours on the weekend but we got to see a little video and eat some ice cream in the country store.
